As humans, we live side-by-side with plants, but we do not shift our attention to the "curiousness" of them. In this installation, we used the scanning electron microscope (SEM) as a technology to trace the shape of withered plants. The SEM photos were scaled to humans, and this enlargement enhances the visual influences of the work. In addition, music was synthesized from two photos, exhibited in this installation by the meta-synthesizer. Together, the visual and audio elements allow you to feel the space with different sensory organs. Natural light (varies depending on the time and climate) also affects the appearance of this work. How do such objects and environments installed to this historical place (Japanese-style architecture constructed from the plants) influence your mind (“Kan” in Japanese)?
“VeraX” includes following means: “truth” in Latin (vera) and vein (which conveys the LIFE pathway, such as a blood vessel or water vein).


ヒトは日々植物に触れ生活を営む一方で、その存在や構造の不思議さに目を向ける機会は少ない。この展示では走査電子顕微鏡(SEM: Scanning Electron Microscope)をテクノロジーとして用い、植物のミクロな構造を描き出した。ミクロな構造にヒトと対等なスケールを付与することで、視覚への影響を強めた。更に、SEM作品から生成した音声を共に展示することで、複数の感覚器を通して体内にその構造を取り込むことに繋がる。そして、草木から作られた展示空間との調和と不調和、自然光により刻々と変化する作品の表情を通して、ヒトの”感”はどのような影響を受けるのだろうか・・・。 VeraXというタイトルはラテン語で真実を意味するVera、血管や水脈を意味するVeinから命名した。
